Uncompressed Video Card Joins List of Output Options

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA -- July 24, 2000 -- Synthetic Aperture today began shipping an update to Echo Fire, its video previewing toolkit for Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, which adds support for the D1 Desktop uncompressed video card from Digital Voodoo.

"The D1 Desktop 64 series brings 8- and 10-bit uncompressed SDI video to the Macintosh in a high-performance 64-bit PCI card." said Robert Currier, President, Synthetic Aperture, "Combine it with Echo Fire and you have realtime, genuinely uncompressed, video previews in After Effects and Photoshop projects, providing the motion graphics artist with pristine views of their work, without the need to rearrange windows or enter special display modes."

Numerous Video Output Options

The Digital Voodoo D1 Desktop joins a growing list of video output options within Echo Fire, including Apple DV FireWire, Media 100, Aurora Video Systems Igniter and Fuse, Digital Origin DV FireWire, and Pinnacle Systems Targa 1000 and 2000.

Compatibility

Echo Fire is available for PowerPC-based Macintosh systems and is compatible with Adobe After Effects 4.0 and later and Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and later. It requires Mac OS 8.1 or newer and QuickTime 4.0 or later. A complete list of supported video cards is available on the company's Web site. For use with FireWire, a DV camcorder or media converter is required. Echo Fire is compatible with NTSC and PAL video systems.

Availability and Upgrades

Echo Fire is available for immediate purchase from resellers and direct from the company's Web site. List price for Echo Fire is US $275. Registered owners of previous versions of Echo Fire are eligible for a free downloadable upgrade. A demo version--good for a fully functional 72-hour evaluation period--is available on the Web site.
