Color Finesse Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a manual available?

Yes, the installer for both the plug-in and the standalone application includes a 100+ page electronic User's Guide in Adobe PDF format.

How do I open the User's Guide?

The User's Guide is in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. You'll need Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later to read the manual.

If you have a recent Adobe product, you'll find the Acrobat Reader on the installer CD-ROM. If not, you can download the free Reader from the Adobe web site.

When using Final Cut Pro 3.0 and Color Finesse 1.x, I get a crash whenever I render. What's up?

Upgrade to Final Cut Pro 3.0.4 and the crash should go away.

When using Final Cut Pro 4.0, Color Finesse 1.x doesn't update the screen reliably after I change settings. How can I work around this?

The best solution is to upgrade to Final Cut Pro 4.1.1, where Apple has fixed this problem. Also be sure to upgrade to Color Finesse 1.1.1 for compatibility with FCP 4.1.1.

If you are stuck at FCP 4.0 for some reason, it is possible to manually work around this. After adjusting Color Finesse settings and returning to FCP, move the "Compatibility" slider in the Color Finesse effects settings within FCP. This will force an update to occur.

When using Final Cut Pro 4.x, Color Finesse 1.1 always previews the first frame of my clip, rather than the frame I've selected. How can I work around this?

Upgrade to the combination of Final Cut Pro 4.1.1 and Color Finesse 1.1.1.

When using Final Cut Pro 4.x, Color Finesse 1.1 always previews a black frame, even though the adjustments I make show up when I render. What's up?

Upgrade to the combination of Final Cut Pro 4.1.1 and Color Finesse 1.1.1.

I'm running under Windows 2000, and each time I call up the Color Finesse 1.1 user interface I get a new instance of the application. How do I correct this?

Upgrade to Color Finesse 1.1.1 and this problem will be corrected.
