Platforms/Versions Adobe® After Effects® CS3, CS4, or CS5 on Macintosh or Windows ProblemAfter Effects CS3, CS4, and CS5 come with a bundled copy of Color Finesse LE, but when I apply the plug-in, it asks for a registration code. Where can I find that code? Color Finesse LE needs a registration code (serial number) different from the one you use to install After Effects itself. Important Note: All support for the bundled version of Color Finesse is handled by Adobe Technical Support, not by Synthetic Aperture Tech Support. Solution The Color Finesse registration code is located in the same place as your Adobe CS3/CS4/CS5 serial number. All Color Finesse registration codes start with "CFLE". Note that After Effects CS5 includes registration codes for both Color Finesse 2 (used with After Effects CS4, included in the CS5 package) and Color Finesse 3 (used with After Effects CS5). You must use the correct registration code with the correct version. Codes for Color Finesse 2 will start with "CFLEx20"; codes for Color Finesse 3 will start with "CFLEx30". If you use the wrong registration code, it may be necessary for you to re-serialize Color Finesse, as outlined in the article "Reserializing Color Finesse LE as Installed by After Effects CS5" For After Effects CS5, Adobe has published the tech note Locate licensing serial numbers - Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium and Master Collection which offers information specific to CS5. If you have the retail package, it will be on a sticker on the DVD case, next to the CS3/CS4/CS5 serial number. If you purchased the downloadable version, it will be in the same email as your CS3/CS4/CS5 serial number. If you have a site/volume license, it will be located on your Master License document, as well as on the Adobe licensing web site. Do a search for recent orders and you'll see that After Effects has two serial numbers listed; one will be for Color Finesse. You may need to contact your license administrator/IT dept to get this info. Another option is to contact your Adobe volume sales rep. If all of that fails, you'll need to talk to Adobe Tech Support. We're not involved with registration code distribution here; that's all handled by Adobe. If you're told otherwise by Adobe Tech Support, ask to speak to a "Level 2" tech—they've been trained on the registration code issue.
