Platforms/Versions

Color Finesse 3 LE running under Windows, as installed by Adobe After Effects CS5.

Problem

Under Windows Vista and Windows 7, the System Presets folder within the Reference Gallery is empty.

Solution

The underlying problem is that the system presets are not being searched for in the correct location.

As a workaround, you can create a copy of the system presets which will appear in the User Presets folder within the Gallery.

  1. In your Documents folder, locate the "Color Finesse Presets" folder. If it doesn't exist, create an empty folder with that name.
  2. Within that "Color Finesse Presets" folder, create a new folder called "System".
  3. Copy all 5 folders from "\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5\Support Files\Plugins\Effects\Synthetic Aperture\(Color Finesse 3 Support)\Color Finesse 3\Color Finesse Presets" to the "System" folder you just created.

Once After Effects has been restarted, you can access the System Presets by twirling open the User Presets folder in the Gallery and accessing the new "System" folder.

When we release a Color Finesse update which fixes this problem, you can delete the "System" folder you created in step 2 to save disk space and reduce startup time.
